Accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to the www.wellbeingportsmouth.co.uk website.

This website has been developed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard as a minimum.

This website is run by Portsmouth City Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve made the website text as simple as possible to understand and aim to write content to a reading age of around 9 years old.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  1. Some of the checkboxes in the contact form are missing form labels. This means that users with assistive technology cannot properly interpret the purpose of the checkboxes. This fails WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 1.3.1: Info and Relationships.
  2. Empty headings are present, which might be disruptive for people using the website with assistive technology. This fails WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 1.3.1: Info and Relationships.
  3. When zoomed in, some of the text is partly cut off so that some users may not be able to access all of the information on the page. This fails WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 1.4.10: Reflow.
  4. There are some links that do not make sense out of context. Screen reader users may not fully understand the purpose of each link. This fails WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 2.4.4: Link Purpose (In Context).

Our website developers and content editors identified the above issues during the most recent accessibility audit.

We are working to resolve these issues and expect the fixes to be completed in the next three months.
