I was ready for change when I noticed I had a unhealthy routines that needed changing for my health. My confidence was low, and I knew making changes would make a difference.
I attended group sessions at Buckland community centre.
The group started at 5pm so I’d turn up, get weighed and take a seat ready for the session to start. It was an programme ran by Wellbeing Practitioners covering different topics each week. When the session ended, the practitioners made themselves available if you wanted to have a private chat and to discuss/give advice on anything.
The most useful advice/learnings I took away from the course is learning portion sizes, meal planning, and the switch off method where you stand back and think if you are even actually hungry.
Another thing which helps the most is being able to go to the drop in sessions every week after the programme had finished just to get weighed and chat with the practitioners and other people I had met on the course about our journeys and progress.
I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to lose weight. My advice would be to take in all the information provided, trust the process and to stick with it. The first 2 weeks was the hardest trying to change bad habits but now I’m 6 months into my journey and much lighter.
